AdoptiveMamax4's Ratings:
Pros: Okay, the positive aspect was that I received a referral after one year of waiting for a baby boy that fit our parameters.....

Cons: Um, everything about this agency is WRONG. There is no communication, no effective leadership, quality staff has resigned, and the most important thing is that they issue SOFT REFERRALS. Soft referrals mean the Ethiopian paperwork is NOT completed and the child's orphan status has not been properly determined. MANY os us families begged IAN not to issue soft referrals and we asked them NOT to refer us a soft referral. Prior to accepting (and paying for!!) the referral, we asked IAN if our referral was 100% complete and ethical. They told us, in writing, that this was a full referral and our child's orphan status had been determined. Fast forward to 5 months later when FIVE of us families LOST our referrals because IAN never completed the paperwork and determined our children to be legally available. This is why there are so many problems in ET adoption right now. Now these children will not have a family, and five families do not have our children. IAN is currently being investigated by the American Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (prior to our cases they were already under investigation), and the CO Dept of Health and Human Services received several complaints against them. IAN is now opening a Uganda program. PLEASE don't use them for ANY program. There are many more ethical agencies out there. Many IAN families who used to recommend them will not recommend them anymore. There is a Yahoo group for IAN families that tells the truth........ IAN repeatedly lied to us, lied on their blog about what really happened with our referrals, and they should have their Hague accredidation revoked.

Reviews: Please do not use them. There are better agencies.
